NEW PRESIDENT AND BOARD ELECTED AT CEEC GENERAL ASSEMBLY HELSINKI

Mr Peter Van der Pijl (NVBK Netherlands) was elected unanimously as the new President of CEEC. Peter was senior vice president fro 3 years and looks forward to developing and expanding the influence of CEEC and the profession of the construction economist in the European construction sector over the next few years. He was joined on the board by two new board members, Micháel O’Connor, delegate from the SCS (Ireland) as the new general secretary and Pascal Asselin, delegate from UNTEC (France) as the new senior vice president. At the general assembly in Budapest in November 2010, Simone Dumas, delegate from the AEC (Switzerland) was elected as the junior vice-president.
The new President thanked his predecessor, Mr Gerard O Sullivan, for his hard work in leading CEEC over the previous 5 years and further thanked the outgoing general secretary, Mr. John Papworth , for the immense work done in supporting the board and his assisting all the delegates over the same period.
The new board have met and will submit the new business plan for discussion at the next General Assembly meeting. One of the key action plans as agreed at the General Assembly is the implementation of the employment of a secretariat support for the CEEC to arrange meetings and manage the day to day affairs.
New Secretariat support for CEEC GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Motivation Office Support [MOS] has been appointed to provide secretarial support to CEEC. MOS will host the correspondence address, email address and office contact details for CEEC. MOS will arrange and maintain membership details, contact details, addresses, emails and internet access.
MOS will also organise General Assembly meetings in cooperation with the host (member association):

After the venue is chosen by the host, MOS will take over the contact with the venue

MOS will reserve Hotel slots for delegates

MOS will arrange registration of delegates

MOS will provide support to the Board in composing the agenda for the meeting
-
MOS will issue invitations and programme of the meeting to delegates
MOS will keep the membership data, prepare membership invoices, answer emails, deal with general correspondence and assist with the day to day running of CEEC including pursuing follow up actions from meetings and CEEC projects. MOS will also convene and host monthly conference call meetings for the Board, and member delegates as necessary.

CEEC Education Graduate Award 2010/11 –Revised date for submission of Abstracts
The CEGA awards competition 2010 has now been deferred until May 2011. Abstracts on research on a construction economics topic with a European theme may be submitted by the 16th January 2011. Candidates who have already submitted abstracts will be included in the competition. The final papers for the CEGA 2010/11 Competition should be submitted 28th February 2011.
The candidates adjudged to have submitted the best three assessed research papers will be invited by the CEEC to the General Assembly meeting of the CEEC in Malta in May 2011 to make formal presentations of their work. The winner and runners up will receive awards and accreditation from not only the CEEC but their respective member Institutes. The three papers would also be published on the CEEC website.

CEEC and CEN new single European standard EN 15221-6 for measuring buildings
EuroFM (Facilities Management) have with The European Standards Authority CEN prepared a new standard EN 15221 for Facilities management. The document contains a new standard for measuring buildings which is closely based on the CEEC European Code of Measure.
Note EN standards are obligatory in all EU countries.

To work for the promotion of the discipline of construction economics in Europe and to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience and information between the relevant professions.

- Promoting the discipline of Construction Economics in Europe
- Representing the interests of the committee to the relevant European Institutions
- Facilitating the education, training and qualification of the Construction Economist
- Preparing mutually acceptable standards of training and qualification
- Supporting and promoting the development of services of the Construction Economist within the construction industry
- Establishing codes of practice for professional conduct
- Defending the members material, professional and ethical interests.
- Realising all the objectives of the Committee by supporting and promotion - notably: studies, publications, congresses, meetings etc.
